2022 Breeding Plans.

We are planning on only one more litter for this year. We need to slow down a bit and focus on our family, we have some personal matters going on that need our full attention. With that being said I think this is a good time to rest our girls.

Reign x Jasper are expecting puppies at the end of May. We are accepting 2 pre-birth deposits. Reign has between 3 and 4 puppies so a small litter is expected. Jasper and Reign’s previous litter was absolutely gorgeous. If you have any questions please contact me, [email protected]

Breeder Con Artists….

I’m am choosing to post this without naming names. Because while this pertains to a one person in particular it could be anyone and it is happening all around us. It did not start with this person nor will it stop with her. It is a warning more so than a tattle post. If you want to know more it should not be hard to figure it out.

For years I have warned of how the internet allows us all to play with smoke n mirrors. To be who we want to be, make up personas and easily lie about anything. But here is the thing, the internet does not forget. What you post one day and try to counter months later is always there, even if you go back and delete your post someone read it and someone remembers. I have seen first hand and been the victim of a person who was good dressing up her crap and calling it gourmet. Maybe that is why I am so watchful now. But this is not about her…. this is about a far worse person.

2+ years ago when this person burst on the scene she rubbed me the wrong way. She was demeaning in her replies to people. For a “newbie” she came off as a know it all and had no issues hurting people with her comments. She was a mutual friend to a few people I trusted so I thought maybe I was being judgy… I gave her a chance and sure enough I was right. (tooting my own horn here) I visited her website and low and behold I saw MY blog post on her website. I had posted a blog post about why Puppy Culture and completing my Puppy Start Right for instructors course was so import to me. She had it as a page on her site. It was a personal blog post so it was written in first person. So here she was claiming to have taken the course and got her certification…. I mean it was effing crazy to see this. When I texted her, she simply claimed she had no idea I wrote it and that she found it on the internet! WTF? So that makes it ok? Even if that was true (and I don’t buy it) she still had no issue taking someone’s blog post and using it on her page “Because it sounded good!”. She removed it only to, get this….. copy and paste someone else’s info on Puppy Culture. So here is what that told me.

  • She is a thief
  • She has no regard for other people
  • She was obviously lying about using Puppy Culture using it as a selling point
  • And if she is a thief and a liar she was not to be trusted

I unfriended her and refused to deal with her. Sadly this meant my friendship with mutual friends took a back seat. While I loved them, I could not “fake” being friendly to this lil flower on any level. I even thought a few times I was over reacting, but still could not being myself to associate with her. A short time later someone on a husky group posted that this person was charged with animal abuse in 2018 when she was working as an animal rescue in Florida. It was shocking to see the video of the news report but it did confirmed my intuition. I watched her continue to acquire dogs and go on as if she was a breeding, showing, training expert. She was transporting dogs which raised another red flag because she was acquiring dogs from other breeders and “transporting them”. I suspected at this point she was using her transport business to flip dogs. I also noticed she was using images of other dogs to represent her dogs on her website. I brought this up to a fellow breeder and she agreed and even found where the original photos came from. I also suspect she was getting into a possible hoarding issue with the amount of dogs she was acquiring.

She along with her husband was recently changed with I think 82 counts of animal cruelty. She also faces felony charges for forging medical documents. I was briefly in a group for people who got puppies from her and their stories were heartbreaking. She was flipping dogs, lying about where they came from, forging health certificates, pups went home sick, pups died in her care, she lied to other breeders she was working with conning them, she told buyers to use corrections on puppies, and she had over 50 dogs in a tiny area with no access to food or water.

I’m posting this because her victims all said, “she answered questions”, “she said the right things”, “she had a website”, “she seemed legit”. But it was smoke n mirrors. A horrible façade. This person is why breeders are looked down upon. This is why I say be careful. I’m not perfect, we all make mistakes, it’s how we learn. But it’s up to us to change course, make things right, to educate ourselves, improve and grow. Please ask questions. If they don’t allow you to their house (which is completely understandable in this day and age) ask to see photos, video, live chat. I have almost daily video documentation of my litters as they grow. All breeders do things differently and you have choices on where to go.. but it is honesty in how we raise our puppies, as well as dogs and puppies in safe, sanitary, healthy and loving environments, along with education and experience is what is important. Be careful out there guys!

Breeding Rights

I have never in 9 years offered breeding rights. So when I was discussing co-owning and the terms of our arrangement with Jasper’s breeder and she mentioned she would rather I not offer breeding rights, I did not hesitate to agree. He is our only active stud so this means for now until the foreseeable future we will not offer breeding rights. So in essence nothing has changed since I started 9 years ago.

I had a few folks ask about puppies from this litter and wanting breeding rights. Most were very respectful of my answer, others not so much. I don’t owe anyone an explanation but here we go.

  • I prefer my pups go to forever pet homes.
  • Breeders all choose to raise their pups differently and with recent events I can not trust my pups with be raised and bred in a manner in which I feel is ethical and responsible. Even with a contract.
  • Many breeders retire breeding dogs and rehome them once they are no longer needed to make room for new pups. While I don’t have an opinion on this, it is not how I want my pups raised. I want forever homes for my pups.
  • Too Much Drama!!! The dog world is nuts and I don’t want a part of all that.
  • I don’t want to!

If you have any questions please let me know. 😀

Reign’s Vampire Chronicles Litter.

Armand, Akasha and Lestat were a fun bunch. These babies I noticed were different at just hours old. Not only were they big babies, they looked a bit different too. I waited to see if anyone else noticed because I felt silly. Sure enough at just 2 days old my son was seeing what I already noticed. He said, “Wow, you can tell these are Jasper babies!” There it was! These babies were a perfect combination of Reign and Jasper.

Reign continued to be our super mom. It is safe to say she is a doting mother who borders on over mothering her babies. She liked to chase Millie and Mazikeen out of the puppy room. This was hard for Maze who up until now was a complete momma’s girl. The 3 babies grew fast and are for sure my biggest babies weight wise. We had some family changes happen and they had to share me with not only my mom responsibilities but also my grandmother duties. They were champs. While Armand had a home lined, the other 2 babies were slow to find a home which I found very odd since to me they are such a gorgeous bunch. A momma of a past pup of ours asked if it was because they all had brown eyes…. and while I can’t confirm that was the cause it sure seems like it. I really think we need to do more in the husky community to normalize and promote brown eyes.

Not one to take all the credit, I want to take time to acknowledge Reign’s breeder, Evelyn of Siberians of Wildheart and Jasper’s breeder Malorie of The Siberian Legacy for trusting me with their babies. Their friendship and trust means the world to me.

Reign Pregnancy week 9 {Texas Husky Breeder}

  • Week 9
  • She may express milk from her nipples.
  • She may also become restless, seek seclusion and in the last few days, soil the house.
  • She will be ‘nesting’ 12-24 hours before the birth
  • Start taking rectal temperatures. Normal is 99.5 to 101. A drop to 97 – 98 on two readings an hour apart will mean the start of pre-labor.
  • Expected date of whelp.
  • Average is 63 days but may take place from the 58th to the 68th day.
  • Keep watching temp drop.
  • Appetite will disappear as whelping approaches.
  • May see a clear discharge from the vulva.
  • At onset of labor may pace, dig, shiver, pant and/or vomit.
  • First fetus will be delivered within 4 hours of the onset of labor.

Reign is doing very well. She is very irritable and enjoys being in the calm puppy room, but she also wants to be with me. So I am back n forth. 😀 I can feel movement and she likes me rubbing her tummy. Her due date is estimated around 9/7 (depends on which calculator I use). As always actual due date depends on the exact time of ovulation and well…. nature. haha

If you have any questions about available puppies from this litter, please feel free to contact me.

Thanks Etsy {Texas Husky Puppies}

I not a huge fan of collars on newborns, and I’ve had incidents of older playing puppies getting teeth stuck in collars. But I’ve learned that identification collars are super helpful for our puppy families especially while watching our daily videos. I’ve tried over 4 different types and I’m trying another. “Thanks Etsy’ The paracord collars are much better then the velcro. I even purchased a cute set that came with cute keepsake paracord collar bracelets for families. My issue with the paracord collars was I really needed a size in between the newborn and puppy sizes. I found this set and fell in love. I got it with the breakaway clasp hopefully that will prevent injury, they come in 3 sizes and with a go home leash.

Follow along with our September litter and I’ll let you know how I like them.

Mother/Daughter bonds… {Texas Huskies}

We have kept a few offspring over the years. Nikita has Amara and Rayder as well as Stark. Muffin/Autumn has Winter. Reign has both Millie and Mazikeen. They each have different relationships. For instance, Nikita gets excited when she sees Stark and Amara was very doting to Nikita when Nikita lost mobility. Winter is the only one who tolerates her momma’s shenanigans and they get along very well. But Maze….. she is 9 months and is super bonded to her mom. Maze is currently crying because Reign is in the puppy room getting use to it again and not in the carte next to Maze napping. Maze is also pretty close to her sister Millie and we made sure to put Millie on the other side of Maze because we anticipated we may have issues. With Reign due in 2 weeks we are defiantly going to be working on this because I don’t think Reign will want maze in the puppy room with her. And honestly it is not something I would ever risk.

I’m going to go back to offering her a pacifier at nap time and bedtime and make trips in to reassure her. Hopefully after a few days she will get use to it. If all else fails I can move her crate in my room but I’m not sure that will solve much.

I am constantly learning with these guys. Just when I think I got things figured out… lol I’ll keep you updated.

September Litter & Future Plans {Texas Siberian Huskies}

We are very excited that Reign and Jasper are due the first part of September. This litter is going to be a little bit different as there is a chance a puppy/puppies or the entire litter will be held back for evaluation. In the past Reign has had 4 pups. At this time I don’t expect this litter to be much different. First pick of course is reserved for The Siberian Legacy and we have someone penciled in for second pick. Anyone interested in this litter should be open to possibilities (color, sex, etc) or hold back on placing a deposit until a pup they like becomes available. I do not have a time table on when this will happen it can be a week or two or more.

At this time we plan on retiring both Tyrion and Ghost. We would like to simplify things a bit and narrow it down to one unalerted male as well as avoid accidental pregnancies as we have have offspring of both males. Jasper is an outstanding boy who represents the breed very well. He defiantly compliments our girls and hopefully helps improve where they are lacking as far as standards. He has a wonderful temperament and personality and we expect to continue to produce wonderfully even tempered, happy, fun loving, puppies. Due to my personal views and a signed contract with Jasper’s breeder, breeding rights will never be available. This is something that has not changed in the past 9 years.

If all goes well I will be starting my Dog Training Certification in September. I need to confirm the work load and expectations before starting. I don’t want to start something I can’t finish especially when so much money is involved. But I feel like this is my calling… that I have to do this… for me. Even if my anxiety says different. I need to do this and see it though. I need something in my life for me.

NOTE: by retiring we mean altering and no longer using as a stud. They are going no where. We would only consider rehoming in extreme circumstances and only if it was in the best interest of our dogs. This is their home!

Reflecting on the past 4 months {texas husky breeder}

After the last puppy goes home I usually sit with a cup of coffee and reflect on the past few months. What went well, what didn’t, what I can improve on and what I did that worked well.

Millie experiencing pregnancy complications was defiantly new and very hard. I broke down several times as the spotting and clots didn’t stop. I questioned everything and took it to heart. Her health was my priority and I’m am so thankful for a wonderful vet and staff. Even after confirming she lost at least one pup but had at least 4 viable, it was still hard as she continued to spot for another week or so. Holding seven healthy pups was a surprise and a relief. I laugh now because I tell folks this was one of the most rowdy bunch of pups I’ve had in a long time. But now that I think about it they had to be rowdy… these guys held on and survived. They are lil fighters and it showed.

I had a lot going on personally. Like many of us home life can be chaotic but the past few months brought a lot of changes. Kid moving back home, new grandbaby, hospitalizations, husband working out of state and not seeing him for a month at a time….. typical home life stress. But I did what I could. The more I put into practice the things I have learned in my classes about puppy socialization the more it becomes the norm. Puppy Culture is a wonderful program and as always we do as much as we can knowing every lil bit makes a difference. Yes, I could have done more, but we did what we could. I have jotted down notes and may tweek things next time around… it’s trail and error and realizing all litters… all puppies in those litters are different. Breeding is stressful, so many things can and do go wrong no matter how good your intentions are. It’s hard not to throw in the towel, in fact I think about it all the time. But I truly love my pack, and love raising puppies and sharing my love for this breed with other families. Maybe that’s selfish…. but for now we take it one day at time. When the joy is gone, we know it is time to stop. And that will be ok too because I still have my pack, who are my world.

I want to thank you all for your kind words. I’ve never held back that by the time the pups start going on home that I am exhausted. But hearing how much you see and appreciate my/our effort makes it all worth it. I am thankful my continued education benefits my breeding and puppy raising program and I plan to continue that. Who knows it may lead to a whole new venture in the future. 😀 Thank you again to our puppy families, followers and friends for your continued support, love and understanding.
