Upcoming Litters: Week 7 {Texas Husky Breeders}

Week 7

Sun 17 Jun 2018 – Sat 23 Jun 2018

  • She may shred papers, blankets or bedding in an attempt at “nest building” in the last weeks.
  • During the last 2 weeks, your pet may become irritable and should avoid contact with small children.
  • Moderate exercise is the proper approach. Neither forced rest nor strenuous exercise is a good idea. Short periods of gentle play and short walks are good.
  • Definate abdominal enlargement.
  • Abdomen hair will start shedding.
  • Teats are bigger, and could contain colostrum.
  • Your girl could tire more easily, and look for a nesting box.
  • Set up the whelp box.
  • The pups are developed well, and are growing daily.
  • You may be able to detect movement of the pups.

We have growing tummies!!  Autumn continues to be a picky eater and Amara wants all the food!!  haha This week I am setting up the puppy rooms. Cleaning, disinfecting, rearranging.  We have new whelping pools that will be disinfected. I will be getting all bedding (blankets, towels, cloths) rewashed,/bleached and  ready to go.

If you ahve any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Upcoming Litters: Week 5 {Texas Husky Breeders}

Week 5

Sun 3 Jun 2018 – Sat 9 Jun 2018

  • Develpment of toes, whisker buds, and claws.
  • Eyes now close and gender can be determined.
  • The puppies are now considered fully developed miniature dogs.
  • Your girls belly can look more swollen.
  • Serve smaller meals more often rather than big meals.

Both girls are doing great.  We have switched to smaller meals several times a day. As always they are getting high quality kibble, plenty of fresh foods and vitamins. We spend most of the morning playing outside, but with this heat we are spending most of the afternoons inside in the air conditioning, then go back out in the late evening for more playtime.

The big changes will start later this week and next week. It all goes super fast from here.  Please remember all due dates are estimates.  Both girls tied several times  through out their heat cycle. Due dates are based on first tie, but if she was ovulating later in her cycle it could be a later tie that “took”.

If you have any questions please feel free to message me.

Upcoming Litters: Week 4 {Texas Siberian Husky Breeder}

Week 4

Wed 30 May 2018 -Mon 4 Jun 2018

  • One of the early signs of pregnancy is for the dam to ‘adopt’ a toy.
  • Development of eyes and spinal cord and faces take shape.
  • The fur on the belly and around the nipples thins.
  • Palpitation can detect Fetuses horns around day 28.
  • To protect the fetuses the uterus fills with fluid, and the palpitation can no longer be felt.
  • Offer your girl a little more food, as she could be hungrier.
  • The fetuses grow to around 1.5 centimeters long during week four.
  • The fourth week of foetal development is considered to be one of the most formative stages of the pregnancy, when the growing puppies are most vulnerable to damage and developing defects. At this stage of development, begin to limit rough play and particularly strenuous exercise in your dog.

Amara and Autumn are doing great. They are both extra affectionate and have no problem demanding cuddles. It is hard to tell if all the naps are due to puppies growing or the heat… I’m guessing both!

Puppy Food, Vitamins, and Treats {Husky Breeder in Texas}

FOOD:  Your puppy is being weaned onto Victor Ultra Pro, Grain Free, ALL Life STAGES. This is a 5 star food as rated by dogfoodadvisor.com.  I suggest you keep your puppy on this food or another high quality dog food!  You will be given a sample bag in your puppy pack.  Not sure where to buy Victor food?  Their website has a store locator, victorpetfood.com, you can also order from chewy.com.  If you decided to offer a different food, please transition slowly to prevent unwanted stress and stomach upset.  I also suggest you look into healthy human foods that are beneficial to your pet and can be added to kibble or fed as treats.

VITAMINS:  We STRONGLY suggest all new puppy owners keep their puppy on NuVet Plus for the pets lifetime.  If that is not possible for you, please consider keeping them on it for  6-12 months to ensure they are getting proper nutrition for optimal growth. More info about Nuvet Plus and ordering info can be found here. supernovasiberianhuskies.com/nuvet/.  Your puppy will go home with a 3 day sample of Nuvet.  If you plan on using Nuvet, please order now to make sure you have it when puppy gets home.

TREATS:  We do not purchase dog treats, we choose to make our own.  If you do buy treats we suggest grain free all natural treats. Dr Karen Becker (can find online, and on facebook) has several treat recipes as well as advice on adding fresh foods to your dogs diet.
