Deposit Information {Texas Husky Breeder}

DEPOSIT INFO FOR UPCOMING LITTERS: Puppy Application/Questionnaire is required for anyone interested in placing a deposit and does not guarantee you a puppy. We only take 2 deposits (pick one and pick two) per litter and only after we confirm breeding took place. We may hold off on taking deposits with first time momma’s to ensure they safely whelp. Since deposits are non refundable we feel this is best for potential buyers and us. We rather be safe than sorry. Deposits should be paid in full and sent promptly to reserve your spot. You may forfeit your spot if payment is not received in a timely fashion.

There is never a deposit to be placed on our waiting/contact list but it is your job to watch our page and contact me once the litter is born if you are still interested in a pup. I will try to reach out to people on the list, but I don’t have time to track people down and wait days for replies.  Deposits placed after the first two reserve picks have chosen are first come first serve and deposit must be made promptly. After that payments can be made as long as the puppy is paid off by 8 weeks old. Balance must be paid by the time the pups reach 8 weeks. Pups go home at 8 weeks, and only after their vet check including fecal test. There will be a boarding fee for pups not picked up on time unless prior arrangements are made. Pups will not be released unless complete balance has been received.

I am very easy going, if something comes up please be HONEST and talk to me.

2018 litters, and the future of our breeding program. {Texas Husky Breeder}

At this time we plan to breed Amara on her next heat cycle. We are estimating that to be April (ish) She tends to go about 8 months between heats. Amara is always bred to Ghost unless we choose an outside stud for her. We may look into that in the future.

We plan on breeding Winter on her next heat cycle as well.  She has matured nicely. Her height and weight are within standard. She has a semi wooly coat that is extremely full and plush. Her temperament is similar to her grand dam, Nikita. She is calm, but playful and very loving! Winter will be bred to Tyrion.

We have tentatively planned to breed Reign late 2018/early 2019. It all depends on heat cycles, age, temperament and health.  Reign was originally set to be paired with Tyrion, but my daughter has decided to get Stark neutered, and we wanted to pair them at least once.  So the much awaited Reign/Tyrion litter will be later in 2019.

At this time we do not plan on breeding Autumn this year. As we evaluate the direction we want to go with our program there is a chance we will retire Autumn.  If that happens she of course will remain her with us.

I will post more when we get confirmation of heat cycles, etc.

Stages of Labor {Husky Breeder In Texas}

Alright guys, we are now playing the waiting game. Amara’s estimated due date was yesterday (the 31st) and Autumn’s is next Tues (the 7th).  I have been talking about stages of labor and I thought I would share with you guys what I am looking for.  😀

In some instances the first stage of labor is missed altogether.

Sings we are looking for:

  • Nesting behavior
  • Dam could become distressed (including: pacing, acting uncomfortable, panting, restlessness, discomfort, licking vulva, vomiting, and frequent urination.)
  • Temperature should be taken three times per day and should be 100-100.8° prior to labor.
    When temp drops considerably, to 98-99° puppies should present themselves within 24 hours. At this time, inform your vet of pending puppies. After the drop the temp will stay at about 99.4
  • Dam may refuse food as her appetite goes away.
  • Stools may turn dark.
  • Do not let dam out to relieve herself without supervision.
  • Offer smaller meals, and maybe try some more expensive canned food.

The first stage of labor can last 24 hours, and can go totally unnoticed. Do NOT give calcium during this stage of dilating. Calcium can only be given when contractions are a minute apart, and she is constantly pushing.

The second stage usually begins with a rather clear or mucous-like discharge from the vulva. In the second stage of labor contractions should start. There will be more discharge, and the presentation of a round, golf-ball size membrane sac of water. This sac is still the 2nd stage of labor and dilating. Do not give calcium. She is not ready to push. This is usually just the horn sac. Pup can follow in 20 minutes to a few hours. Some vets recommend not letting her puncture this sac. This is the protective sac that the puppies are in. But do not fret if she pops it. This is Her water breaking. After presentation of this sac, the puppy could be out in about 30 minutes, but it can take a couple of hours. If the dam continues to strain hard for longer than 45 minutes on a single puppy, it is wise to call your vet. (Remember there should never be time limits, as every situation is different.) It is always best to call your vet and do what he/she recommends.

The third stage: Presentation of puppy and delivery of placenta.

Pregnancy 8 & 9 Weeks {Husky Breeder in Texas}

We are in the final stretch with about a week to go. I am working a few days this week and then will be limiting my availability to ensure I am home around due dates and home for puppy supervision. Both girls are right on track.  Nikita always went a week past her due date (she ovulated late in her cycle)  Hopefully these girls will stick close to their due date. I will update when girls go into labor via the facebook page.  I use to document and post photographs after each pup was born. I found that I was focusing more on posting then on momma and pups. More recently I have posted photos after whelping was done and mom and pups were resting.  I am not sure how I will work it this time. I think we will just see how things go. I have been asked for video, and if things are going smoothly I may attempt one or two. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Amara: 9 Weeks

*Gently clean nipples and vulva (my girls get a spa day)

*May become restless, seek seclusion.

*Oct 31st, Expected Date of Whelp.

*Average Day is 62 days, but may take place the 58th to the 68th day.

*Watch for temp drop. Will drop from 101- 99.5 to 97-98

*May see clear discharge from vulva.

*At onset of labor may, pace, dig, shiver, pant and or vomit.

Autumn: Week 8

*Dam spends a lot more time grooming herself.

*Breasts become swollen as her milk forms.

*Nesting begins.

*Dam may not have a big appetite.

*You can feel puppies move now.

*Introduce whelping box (area).

Pregnancy Update 7 & 8 weeks {Texas Husky Breeder}

I want to first say thank you for all you patience. I am sorry if I get behind with updates and replying. If you are ever left waiting for a reply, please feel free to message me on facebook to remind me.  With work, kids, house, huskies, etc, it can get hectic and I can be forgetful. I am trying to work as often as I can because I do not work close to due dates to ensure I am home for delivery and then I limit my working when pups get older to make sure they get proper supervision.

Alright so here we go…. we are getting closer guys!  I hope you are as excited as we are. Both litters have a lot of interest, and while I appreciate folks wanting to put down deposits now, to be safe, I only take 2 deposits per litter.  So if you are seriously interested in a pup from either litter, please fill out and email me an application (located on this site), watch the facebook page for updates, and contact me after I post that I am taking deposits.  Please understand your deposit reserves your spot in line and not a certain color, gender, etc.

Amara: Week 8

*Dam spends a lot more time grooming herself.

*Breasts become swollen as her milk forms.

*Nesting begins.

*Dam may not have a big appetite.

*You can feel puppies move now.

*Introduce whelping box (area).

Autumn; Week 7

*May shred paper, blankets, or bedding (nesting).

*May become irratable.

*Definite abdominal enlargement.

*Abdomen hair will start shedding.

Amara has a nice size baby belly, I am checking daily and should be able to start feeling the pups move this week. She is spending a lot of time in her crate (going in by herself) so I will be getting her room set up this week and we will be getting her use to the whelping pool, hoping she prefers that over the crate. 😀

Autumn has a baby belly as well and I feel that she will have a larger litter this time around. Last time she had 4, she feels bigger already and still has 3 weeks to go. Autumn is very lovey to me and wants to be by my side.  But she is cranky with Amara and the younger girls. Moody is an understatement.  She went thought this last time and much of the crankiness ended after the pups were born. 😀

If you have any questions, please feel free to email or message me.

Pregnancy Update: (6th and 7th week) {Siberian Husky Breeder in Texas}

We are in the final stretch of Amara and Autumn’s pregnancies.  Both girls are doing great.  We can defiantly see a baby belly on Amara and the hint of a belly on Autumn. I will be spending this week, cleaning and disinfecting each puppy room, whelping pool, bedding, etc.

Here is what the calendar says to expect in the coming week.

Amara; Week 7

*May shred paper, blankets, or bedding

*May become irratable

*definite abdominal enlargement

*Abdomen hair will start shedding

Autumn: Week 6

*Feed smaller meals several times a day

*Increase water

*Enlargements of mammary glands

*May be discharge from vulva

Pregnancy update (5 and 6 weeks): {Texas Siberian Husky Breeder}

Good morning everyone.  I am finally back to using our blog. I hope to use it more often, and documenting Amara and Autumn’s pregnancies will be much easier this way.  We are finally seeing some signs indicating pregnancy in both girls! Before I begin, please remember due dates are estimates. We are basing these on 63 days past first tie. But this can change depending on which tie “took”.  Females are not always ovulating at first tie.  For example, Nikita always whelped a week past her due date. So we knew she ovulated late in her cycle.  Amara and Autumn both whelped within 24 hours of their due date last time, and we are hoping that is the case this time.  But you cant always predict nature.

Amara: Estimated Due Date, Oct 31.  6th week of pregnancy.  Here is some of the things the calendar says happens in the 6th week:

*During the last several weeks, your dogs nutritional needs nearly double.

*Increase water

*Enlargement of mammary glands as nipple darken and enlarge.

*There may be some clear fluid discharge from the vulva. This is normal.

We are feeding Amara small portions, 2-3 times a day. She wants lots of loves and cuddles.  She is easily irritated by the younger pups, so we are giving her some space. We have noticed a little belly starting to show.

Autumn: Estimated Due Date, Nov 7th.  5th week of pregnancy.  Here is some of the things the calendar says happens in the 5th week:

*Development of toes,whiskers buds, and claws.

*Eyes now close and gender can be determined.

*The puppies are not considered fully developed miniature dogs.

*She may be showing

Autumn, is having trouble finishing her dinner so we are feeding her small portions, 2-3 times a day as well. She is moody, playful one minute and annoyed the next. We are giving her her own space and she is spending a lot of time with Tyrion or with me.
